Bethany United Church of Christ held its vacation Bible school July 23 to 27. The theme for the week was "Babylon - Daniel's Courage in Captivity." Participants chose from a selection of costumes that they could mix and match each evening.

Each evening started with singing and dancing to biblical songs. Then they broke into groups and visited various themed stations. The Fellowship Hall in the church was a biblical village. Tents were set up and decorated to be stalls in a marketplace. Each stall had a different craft students could make. And they used gold coins to buy the crafts.

They visited Daniel in his den, where they sat on carpets and heard a Bible lesson from Daniel and other costumed actors. In addition, each night they enjoyed a different activity. For a grape stomping activity, they filled a small pool with water balloons and stomped them until they all broke.
