Pete's Top-10 An undefeated week of picks

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 by PETER CAR pcar@tnonline.com in Sports

After an unblemished week of picks, I've come to realize that it's not that hard picking games around here this year.

The reality is that there aren't any super teams in the Valley like we've had in the past in either conference, with Catasauqua being the lone exception of a team that appears to be superior to everyone in their league.

Easton could have two losses on its resume at this point, Parkland looks to be heating up and Central Catholic is making a push in the poll.

Who will take another step toward the playoffs this week? Check out the picks below.

1. Easton (6-0)

Last week's rank: #1

Top team, but definitely beatable.

The Pick: Easton 34- Northampton 17

2. Parkland (4-2)

Last week's rank: #2

Trojans are the hottest team around.

The Pick: Parkland 28- Freedom 14

3. Nazareth (4-2)

Last week's rank: #3

Blue Eagles still get the nod over Whitehall this week.

The Pick: Nazareth 56- Bethlehem Catholic 21

4. Whitehall (4-2)

Last week's rank: #4

This could be the game of the week.

The Pick: Whitehall 31- Central Catholic 21

5. Catasauqua (6-0)

Last week's rank: #6

Rough Riders break into the top five for first time all year.

The Pick: Catasauqua 35- Pen Argyl 20

6. Emmaus (4-2)

Last week's rank: #7

Green Hornets look to be getting back to consistency.

The Pick: Emmaus 24- Liberty 21

7. Central (3-3)

Last week's rank: #9

I should have Colin McDermott's name up there instead of Central Catholic.

The Pick: Whitehall 31- Central Catholic 21

8. Bangor (5-1)

Last week's rank: #8

Slaters bounce back against Palmerton.

The Pick: Bangor 40- Palmerton 12

9. Freedom (2-4)

Last week's rank: #5

Pates had a chance to knock off Easton.

The Pick: Parkland 28- Freedom 14

10. Pen Argyl (5-1)

Last week's rank: #10

Knights were impressive in win over Bulldogs.

The Pick: Catasauqua 35- Pen Argyl 20
