Saucon Valley: District makes AYP; hs gets warning

Saucon Valley has attained Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) based on the district's performance on the 2011-12 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) test.

Saucon Valley Elementary and Middle schools achieved AYP status. Saucon Valley High School, however, has been placed on "warning status."

According to released results, 68 percent of 11th-grade students were deemed proficient on the reading portion of the exam. On the math section of the exam, 56 percent of students were classified as proficient.

The PSSA thresholds for 2012 were 81 percent proficiency in reading and 78 percent proficiency in math. Next year the thresholds will increase to 91 percent proficiency in reading and 89 percent proficiency in math. By 2012, 100 percent of students must be proficient in both reading and math.
