Freedom swim teams sweep Konkrete Kids

The Freedom Patriots swam to two victories over Northampton last week when the boys defeated the Konkrete Kids, 111-65, and the girls defeated the K-Kids, 111-65.

Freedom's Peter Conzola, Trevor Watlington, Scott DelFranco, and Brandon Burnette opened the boys events with a victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.59.

In individual events, DelFranco won the 200 free in 1:52.12 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.71, Conzola won the 100 butterfly in 53.97 and the 100 backstroke in 53.2, and Eric Lawrence took first place in both the 200 IM in 2:06.30 and the 500 free in 5:04.42, all for the Patriots.

Freedom's John McGinty won the diving event with 133.7 points, and Shjon Watlington swam to a first place finish in the 50 free in 25.76.

The Patriots proceeded to clinch the last two relays as Kyle Hanchick, DelFranco, Watlington, and Lawrence won the 200 free relay in 1:37.56, and Lawrence, Hanchick, Watlington, and Conzola won the 400 free relay in 3:38.97.

In the girls' events, Caitlin McCadden, Kelly Kopko, Helen Hsu, and Molly Magnan opened the Patriots' first home meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay in 2:00.93.

In individual events, Brooke Munion won the 200 IM in 2:19.44 and the 100 free in 56.20, and Helen Hsu won the 50 free in 25.21 and the 100 butterfly in 1:00.90.

Kaycee Stoudt won the diving event for the Patriots with 165.95 points.

Other first place finishers in individual events for Freedom's girls were Rachael Giles in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.72, and McCadden in the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.27.

Munion, Christina Haller, Giles, and Hsu won the 200 free relay in 1:46.00, followed by Magnan, Kopko, McCadden, and Munion winning the 400 free relay in 4:04.02.
