Liberty swimmers sweep Zephs

Liberty's first conference swim meet of the 2012-2013 season resulted in a 115-34 victory for the Hurricane boys and a 95-75 victory for the Hurricane girls last Thursday over Whitehall.

Sean Vanatta, Nolan Vanatta, Matt Buell, and Jacob Jones won the 200 medley relay for Liberty in 1:55.08.

Alex Fitch won the 200 free in 2:08.48, James Sheplock took first place in the 200 IM in 2:18.27, and Ryan Spadt swam to a first place finish in the 50 free in 24.60.

Sean Vanatta also won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.25, Brandon Merkert clinched the 100 free in 55.96, and Nolan Vannatta also won a second event, placing first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.58.

Sheplock, Juwan Foster, Evan Smith, and Merkert combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:38.95.

Despite only three first-place victories in girls events, the Lady Hurricanes were able to defeat the Zephyrs by 20 points.

Liberty's Jocelyn Baker won the 500 free in 5:26.83, and Anita Kundu took first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.82.

Maggie Olock, Baker, Madison Sauers, and Emma Williams won the 200 free relay in 1:45.54.
