Liberty and Becahi girls come up with victories
After a too-close-for-comfort first quarter, the Liberty Hurricanes poured on the defense to defeat Easton, 43-35, last week.
"We decided to focus a lot more on our man defense, and we got a few steals in a row. We had some fast breaks, and pushed the ball up the court," said Liberty's Kali Shumock.
The Hurricanes outscored the Red Rovers by seven points in both the second and third quarters, and by eight points in the fourth quarter.
Shumock led Liberty's scoring with 13 points, followed by freshman, Kay West, who had ten points.
The Hurricanes also defeated Stroudsburg last week, 46-32.
In a Bethlehem rivalry game, Bethlehem Catholic defeated Freedom, 58-20.
Becahi guard Janelle Robinson said, "After everyone's been picking us to be the favorite, we're still playing every game like it's our last. We're still working on getting into the post. We're still working on our jump shots. We're still working on our defense. We like to go out and get them and keep it fast paced."
Becahi's Kalista Walters was the top scorer for the Hawks with 20 points, followed by Bridget Smith who added 12 points, and Nicole Lacherza who had ten points.
Ashley Gordon was the leading scorer for the Patriots with seven points.
Three-point goals were scored by Gordon, Tori McCaslin, and Robinson.
