Your look ahead at Valley Arts

Fairy tales like no other: "Grimm!," continues through July 25 at Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre (MSMT) in the Studio Theater, Trexler Pavilion for Theatre and Dance, Muhlenberg College, Allentown. The Doppelskope Theatre Company's world premiere of the children's musical is a one-hour show of puppetry, music and interactivity. Classic fairy tales by the Brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm are reinterpreted. In the musical, a Story Machine captures daydreams and makes them into fairy tales. Everything goes awry when the machine breaks down, releasing colorful, fuzzy stories into the world. The audience must help the brothers rescue the stories and keep them from unraveling. Doppelskope, with director Ora Fruchter, who co-wrote the musical with her Doppelskope partner, Christopher Sheer, with music by Toby Singer and lyrics by Fruchter, created last year's MSMT world-premiere children's musical "Gruff!" After "Grimm!," children can meet the cast and participate in a 45-minute workshop. The show is recommended for ages four and up. Tickets: muhlenberg.edu, 484-664-3087
