Bethlehem Catholic’s football team advanced in state play this past weekend, turning a close game into a dominating, mercy rule performance after a big second half.

The Hawks won 42-12 over Greater Johnstown.

Becahi took a 14-6 lead in the first quarter but that score remained the same heading into halftime.

That didn’t last long once the third quarter started as QB Javon Clements ran 36 yards for a touchdown to put the Hawks on top 20-6.

After a defensive hold, the Hawks Randy Terry III increased the lead to 27-6 on a five-yard TD run. It was all part of a 21-0, third quarter explosion for Becahi.

Terry had a big day finishing with 160 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

The Hawks next take on Imhotep Charter, the District 12 champ, in the state semifinals. This contest will be held at Northern Lehigh.
