Borough council sets year’s pool fees

Monday, February 6, 2017 by Tracy Rice Special to the Bethlehem Press in Local News

Fountain Hill Borough board members had tabled the discussion regarding new pool rates for 2017 at their December meeting, but have since decided admission fees are going up $5 for season membership and $1 for individual fees.

Board member Philip Trable proposed raising the cost for individual admission $2 from last year instead of the proposed $1. Trable said expenses keep going up. They gave the lifeguards a raise last year, the cost of supplies increases and there are repairs that will need to be made soon.

Council President Larry Rapp and Normam Blatt both said the pool is more about providing a service to the community than making a profit. After much discussion, a vote was taken and the majority approved the $1 increase.

Ordinance 833, which would approve the deletion of three handicap parking spaces, was moved to the February meeting. Council adjourned to an executive session to discuss a legal estate matter and did not return.
