Regional residents complete non-profit management program
Nine Lehigh Valley nonprofit professionals have earned certificates in nonprofit management through the inaugural partnership of Northampton Community College’s Center for Business and Industry in Bethlehem and Philadelphia’s Nonprofit Center at La Salle University. Nearly 60 individuals chose among 10 classes in essential nonprofit skills, including fundraising, financial management, marketing, communications, governance, strategic planning and other components of nonprofit management through this collaboration which brought Philadelphia-based nonprofit non-credit professional development classes to the Lehigh Valley. Participants who took all 10 classes earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
The nine certificate recipients are Lisa Campbell of Stroudsburg; Joyce Cerniglia, Coopersburg, executive director for finance and administration, First Presbyterian Church of Allentown; Nancy Williamson Hooke, Barrett Township, chair of the board of directors, Friendly Community Center, Mountainhome; Sarah Jacobi, Blakeslee, assistant director, Pocono Alliance, Stroudsburg; Amy Leiser, East Stroudsburg, executive director, Monroe County Historical Assn., Stroudsburg; Joan Marcus, president, Joan B. Marcus Communications, Allentown; Mark Mitman, owner and president, Mitman Group, Bethlehem; Annette Savo, Bethlehem, Institutional Advancement, Northampton Community College; and Lisa Walkiewicz, Macungie, chief operating officer, Via of the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem.
Based on the initial success of this partnership, these 10 classes will be offered again, from September 2017 through May, 2018, at NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. 3rd St. in Bethlehem. Registration is available on NCC’s website. Call 610-332-8678 for more information.
