Hanover boys get win over Soleco
A split second win for the Hanover Stingrays in the boys’ crescendo relay added to the celebration of Hanover’s 332-207 combined team score victory over Soleco on July 10 at Hanover.
“They won champs two years in a row now, but we normally beat them in the regular season,” said Hanover swimmer Danny Lehr.
Logan Ritter, Gianni Morales, Robert Negron, Sean McGuire, and David Gabrielle won the crescendo with a time of 2:06.09, out touching Soleco who finished in 2:06.22.
Earlier in the meet, Negron won the 15 & over 50 freestyle with a time of 24.38.
Michael Kounoupis, Chase Lewis, David Gabrielle, and Gavin Bailey placed first in the 9 & 10 100 medley relay with a time of 1:28.31, and Bruce Bailey, Gianni Morales, Lehr, and Matthew Morales placed first in the 11-12 100 medley relay in 1:16.53.
In 13 & over, Jake Evert, Chris Chambers, Chase Ledger, and Jase Smith won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.87.
The Hanover boys’ team swept the breaststroke events with first place finishes by Josh Baluta in the 8 & under 25 with a time of 32.63, Lewis in the 9-10 25 with a time of 22.34, Gianni Morales in the 11-12 50 with a time of 45.93, McGuire in the 13-14 50 with a time of 36.65, and Chambers in the 15 & over 50 with a time of 32.78.
Lehr took first place in the 11-12 100 IM in 1:24.88, and Chambers was first in the 15 & over 100 IM in 1:04.97.
Gabrielle was the winner in the 9-10 25 butterfly with a time of 18.43, Lehr won the 11-12 50 fly in 37.53, and Negron came in first in the 15 & over 50 fly in 27.10.
Lewis won the 9-10 25 backstroke in 23.23, Lehr won the 11-12 50 back in 38.13, and Evert was first in the 15 & over 50 back in 29.09.
“I feel like I improved a lot,” said Lehr. “I look to the left [at the lane next to me] in the backstroke when I go into my turn.”
Gabrielle took first place in the 9-10 25 freestyle with a time of 16.37, Gianni Morales was first in the 11-12 50 free in 33.43, and Evert won the 15 & over 100 free in 56.75.
