COUNTY Senior produce coupons available

Northampton County residents age 60 and over are eligible to receive $20 worth of coupons (once for the season) for use at state-registered farmers markets ( not for supermarkets or grocery stores). To be eligible, residents must have an income less than $22, 311 per year or less or be a married couple (both may receive coupons) with an income of $30,044 per year or less. Proof of age and residence must be presented by all persons wishing to receive coupons.

A person may obtain coupons for another person only if they have a completed and signed proxy form, and identification with the date of birth and address of the older adult must be shown when presenting the proxy.

Local markets include Bechdolt Orchard and Gina Seier, both on Sundays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October, Constitution Avenue, Hellertown; Bechdolt Orchard, daily through November, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 2209 Leithsville Road, Hellertown, and on Thursdays through October, Morton and New streets, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Jett Thaddeus, Wednesdays through November, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Road, and Saturdays through September, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Rose Garden (Eighth Avenue between Union Boulevard and Broad streets); Reuben Demaster, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Bechdolt Orchard, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,both Saturdays through October, Rose Garden.

The voucher program is part of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
