John Paul Roeder, head accountant
John Paul Roeder, 91, of Punta Gorda Isles, Fla. and formerly of Whitehall and Allentown, died Aug. 15, 2017 in Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. He was the husband of the late Edith (Deedy) Roeder.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of Dr. Jesse N. Roeder and Ruth Melroy Roeder.
He was a 1944 graduate of Palmerton HS. He attended Penn State University and graduated in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree in commerce and finance.
He was a corporal in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
He was the head of the accounting for the wire rope and reinforcing bar departments at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation until he retired in 1982.
He was a member of St. Johns U.C.C., Fullerton, prior to moving to Florida.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda J. and Richard Gross of Hagerstown, Md. and Joyce A. and Edward J. Dye of Punta Gorda Isles; five grandchildren: Benjamin Gross (Jordan) of Rosslyn Farms; Erik Gross of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; Laura Gross and her Joseph Dugan of Hagerstown, Md.; Shannon Dye and her husband James Ringenberger; and Chrisinda Dye and her husband Sean McFetridge of Whitehall; nine great-grandchildren, Prosper and Frost Gross, Jillian and Jacob Dugan, Tyler, Zachery, and Ethan Ringenberger and Shea and Molly McFetridge; a brother, Alfred D. and his wife Dorothy Roeder of Sunset Beach, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth (Mrs.Thomas) Roeder of Breinigsville; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Jesse N. Jr. and Thomas M. Roeder; and a sister, Phyllis Roeder Madaus.
