Thomas D. Shannahan Jr., of Kirkland Village
Thomas D. Shannahan Jr., 87, of Bethlehem, died Sept.1, 2017, at his residence in Kirkland Village. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Thomas D. Sr. and Mary (McKee) Shannahan. He was the husband of Anita C. (Calkins) Shannahan of Kirkland Village for 61 years.
He was a 1953 graduate of Lehigh University.
He was stationed in Panama from 1953-1955 with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked in the transportation department of the Bethlehem Steel Company for 28 years until he retired in 1982.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem where he was a former deacon and trustee.
He volunteered at the Lehigh University alumni office and for the Northampton County Meals on Wheels for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, a son, Thomas D. III and his wife Cheryl; a daughter, Carol Anita; a grandson, Ryan Thomas Shannahan; a sister, Molly and her husband Peter Taylor; nieces; and nephews.
