Freedom’s 50th anniversary Oct. 15
Tentative details about the Freedom HS 50th anniversary rededication event were released at the school board curriculum committee meeting Sept. 11. The event will be held at Freedom Oct. 15, from noon until 5 p.m. Plans for the outdoor event will include a large selection of food trucks, outdoor sports activities for kids, as well as guided tours and a slide show presentation inside the building.
A formal rededication ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. sharp, to include a formal procession similar to a graduation ceremony. The rededication will not only recognize Freedom, but also East Hills MS, which was also dedicated 50 years ago.
There are numerous special guests invited to speak, including a planned keynote speech by Senator Lisa Boscola. Other notable guests will include past educators and principals, some whose career with Freedom trace back to the day construction broke ground.
Superintendent Dr. Roy was excited that so many important local politicians, and former members of the school district and Freedom’s past leadership will be able to take part in such a monumental milestone in district history.
After the ceremony, there are performances planned by three local bands with ties to Freedom and the City of Bethlehem, including a performance by Cunningham and Associates, led by former Bethlehem Mayor Don Cunningham.
