Eagles soar past BC in girls soccer game
A back-and-forth girls’ soccer game between Bethlehem Catholic and Nazareth ended in a 5-2 victory for the Blue Eagles last week at Becahi.
“We weren’t sure what to expect from Nazareth,” said Becahi’s Emma Pfeiffer. “The first half we were working a lot better.”
Becahi forward Brooke Bisko tied the game twice, but in the second half, Nazareth’s Abigail James added two goals to the two she had already scored, and Allison Hoff scored one.
“They were having great shots on goal. In the second half, we couldn’t stop them, so we needed to play well defensively and get the ball up on our side so we could play more possession,” Pfeiffer said.
Caitlin Vogrins had 11 saves for the Hawks.
“We greatly rely on Brooke [Bisko] and Emma [Carreras], but since they’re two of our strongest players, they’re marked,” said Becahi’s Rachel Rutkowski. “Lately, we’ve been practicing more forward drills because we cannot finish on a one touch. That’s one of our hardest things.”
Also last week, Liberty played to a 2-2 tie with Nazareth.
Julie Curti and Jess DelCorso scored for the Hurricanes.
Freedom defeated Saucon Valley 3-2. Haley Gschrey scored all three goals for the Patriots on assists by Doris Muncan.
