Liberty boys extend streak
Liberty’s boys’ soccer team extended its record last week to 11-2-3 after defeating Allen 3-2, Bethlehem Catholic 4-1, and tying Easton 0-0.
“It was just a well-balanced game, and I think we could’ve scored a few goals and won that game, but it is what it is,” said Hurricane forward Andy Epsaro regarding the outcome against the Red Rovers.
It was also senior night for the Hurricanes.
“We expected clean sheets, but I think it was quite unfortunate we were unable to find the back of the net,” said Liberty coach Ian Larimer.
The following day, Spencer Koski, Salem Hatungimana, Safa Turkdonmez, and Tyrece Langton did find the back of the net on assists by Matt Collins, Andy Epsaro, Christian Tackett, and Mauro Solano against Becahi.
Kevin Yussella scored for the Hawks on an assist by Mark Schadt.
“We had to continue to finish and our coach said if we kept doing that then Beca would back off a little bit,” Epsaro said. “I think we’re getting a good amount of wins and we’re playing really strong.”
Last Friday, Liberty faced a more challenging Allen team than they had earlier.
“Allen is a physical team,” said Liberty forward Matt Collins. “They’re all individually skillful and have good tactics.”
LHS goals were scored by Ricardo Carcamo (two) and Sander Sahaydak. Blake Koski made six saves.
Thursday will conclude the regular season with their rivalry contest at Freedom.
“Freedom will try and get us back for what we did earlier this year, and we’re going to embrace that to the fullest,” Larimer said.
This past Friday, Freedom scored a 3-1 victory over Easton.
Patriot goals were scored by Jared Whitehorn, Andrew Youwakim, and Liam Phieffer on assists by Will Tichy, Whitehorn, and Michael Gschrey.
Derek Bast made five saves for the Patriots.
