Nothstein to run in 15th District
Olympic medals winning cyclist and Republican Lehigh County Commissioner Marty Nothstein has announced his bid to run for the seat of retiring U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent in the 15th Congressional District.
The self-described conservative and political outsider joins state Lehigh County Representatives Justin Simmons and Ryan Mackenzie to oppose four Democratic candidates, solicitor Susan Ellis Wild and Pastor Greg Edwards, both of Allentown; Bill Leiner of Coplay; and Laura Quick of Lebanon County.
The Emmaus High School graduate is the executive director of the Preferred Cycling Center, Upper Macungie Township. Elected in 2015 as a Lehigh County at-large commissioner, he has been the board of Commissioners chairman since January. He has stated that, if elected, he would self-impose a term limit of no more than four terms, or eight years.
