Pete’s Top-10: Can Colonial teams take titles from the EPC? teams?

Wednesday, November 8, 2017 by Peter Car pcar@tnonline.com in Sports

Not many surprises occurred in last week’s opening round of the playoffs outside of Pocono Mountain West back handing second-seeded Stroudsburg. However, what else would you expect from an all MVC showdown?

Parkland got pushed farther than they would have liked, while Easton made a statement with their thumping over Nazareth.

Palisades should keep rolling, but what will their Colonial League counterparts Southern Lehigh and Saucon Valley do in their title matches with EPC foes?

League bragging rights are on the line this week, so let’s see who can keep talking.

1. Parkland (11-0)

Last week’s rank: #1

Trojans should be ready for this one.

The Pick: Parkland 28- Easton 20

2. Beth. Cath. (9-2)

Last week’s rank: #2

Too many weapons for Saucon to handle.

The Pick: Bethlehem Catholic 27- Saucon Valley 17

3. Whitehall (8-3)

Last week’s rank: #3

Zephs win their second straight title.

The Pick: Whitehall 42- Southern Lehigh 24

Pates are going back to the final.

The Pick: Freedom 35- Pocono Mountain West 14

Pirates are just too good for anyone in the 3A bracket.

Last week’s rank: #4

Disappointing end to the Nazareth’s season.
