The Bethlehem school board took a moment to recognize two exceptional students at its Dec. 18 year-end meeting. Superintendent Dr. Joseph Roy invited Joshua Adams and William Lasko on the stage to celebrate their performance at the Universal Technical Institute’s Top Technician Challenge.

The students, who attend Bethlehem VoTech for automotive technology, competed against colleagues from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Bethlehem had three teams, comprised of two students each, who competed, in areas including written testing, part and tool identification, and troubleshooting complex areas such as check engine lights, electrical and brake problems,

Two of the BAVTS teams made it to the final round, with Joshua and William taking the gold medal. Dr. Roy shared his fascination with their performance and reminded the crowd that BASD strives to make all of their students career ready upon graduation. The audience broke into applause upon hearing each of the students received a full scholarship to University Technical Institute (valued at $40,000) as well as $4,000 in Snap-on toolboxes and tools.
