Mayor announces Monocacy plan
Mayor Bob Donchez announced Jan. 31 that the city is embarking on a Monocacy Park Master Plan that will include major renovations to the Memorial Pool Complex. The proposed renovations will result in the closing of Memorial Pool for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In light of the closing of Memorial Pool, West Side, Clearview, Stark and Yosko pools will all be open for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
“The pool, located on Illick’s Mill Road was dedicated on Memorial Day in 1957, is in need of significant modifications and repairs” said Mayor Donchez. “The complex has served the citizens of Bethlehem for the past 60 years and with the proposed enhancements we are certain that we will continue to meet the needs of our constituents for years to come” he also said.
The city welcomes all input and has scheduled a Public Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Charles A. Brown Icehouse located at 56 River St. At that time, the public will have an opportunity to view all the proposed plans for the pool as well as the Master Plan for the Monocacy Complex. The city encourages public participation at this meeting.
