Native American group purchases Sands for $1.3B
Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced last week the sale if its Bethlehem casino to Wind Creek Hospitality for $1.3 billion.
Wind Creek is an affiliate of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians of Alabama.
The sale must still be must approved by the Pa. Gaming Control Board, which may take several months to a year, and Sands will be seeking a license renewal in April.
According to Lehigh Valley Live, if the license is renewed for the Sands, Wind Creek will be in the clear to operate the resort for its duration; five years.
The Sands Bethlehem center opened eight years ago and has since become one of the best-rated casino hotels in the state. But it’s one of Sands’ smaller properties, eclipsed by massive complexes in Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore, and Sands had announced its desire to sell it over a year ago.
