Francis “Fritz” J. Toner Jr., high school, college basketball coach
Francis “Fritz” J. Toner Jr., 86, of Bethlehem, died April 2, 2018, at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Francis and Sophia (Prorok) Toner. He was the husband of the late Dolores Ianotti.
He was a three sport athlete at Liberty High School, and a standout basketball player at Moravian College, where, along Northampton Community College, he coached basketball.
He was a caseworker for Lehigh County for many years.
A golfer, he had scored two holes-in-one. He was a life member of several area social clubs, including the North End Wanderer’s Club, the Jefferson Democratic Club, the Heights Athletic Association and the Bethlehem Volunteer Firemen’s Home Association.
He is survived by a sister, Carlyn Toner, with whom he resided; four children, David and his wife Darlene of Laramie, Wyom., Tamra and her husband Robert Magee of Maple Shade, N.J., Kevin of Bethlehem and Kim and her husband John Deily of Williams Township; the mother of his children, Shirley Toner of Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and companion, Faye Tirpak of Coopersburg.
He was predeceased by a sister, Bernadine Toner.
