Local Therapist Speaks on Society for Women’s Health Endometriosis Panel
Dr. Alexandra Milspaw, founder and clinical director of 4Directions Counseling, LLC, in Bethlehem, and a local licensed professional counselor and AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist, spoke on policy issues regarding endometriosis on April 10 in Washington, D.C.
Her presentation highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary care and training for all health care providers as well as the overlap of chronic stress, trauma, and chronic pain; and encouraged research for the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions, including Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Walk with a Doc on Thursdays
St. Luke’s Walks with a Doc (with different physicians) will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursdays begin April 12, at least until Thursday, September 27, rain or shine, at the Anderson Campus trail.
Participants are able to walk at his/her own pace. There are rest/stop benches along the trail. Low impact walking engages many muscle groups all at once. By varying walking speed, walkers may easily get the heart rate variability that is needed to condition the heart.

Advances in kidney cancer care
The Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center discussed the latest advances in care, treatment and management of kidney cancer on April 5 at Lehigh Country Club, 2319 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown. The event was sponsored by the Andy Derr Foundation for Kidney Cancer Research.
The “Advances in Kidney Cancer Care” event featured five speakers, including Robert J. Motzer, M.D., attending physician, Medical Oncology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and Suresh Nair, M.D., Physician-in-Chief, Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute.
Dr. Motzer discussed two new renal cell cancer clinical trials that are available at MSK and L.V.C.I. for stage 3 and stage 4 kidney cancer.
