Freedom’s tennis team won its match against East Stroudsburg South, 5-2, on Saturday after losing to Pocono Mountain West, 4-3, last Thursday.

In the Patriots’ match against the Cavaliers, the Patriots won at two singles where Matt Mullen defeated Miguel Retto 6-2, 6-3, and at three singles where Paras Chand defeated Crew Bunn 6-0, 6-1, but the Patriots lost at one singles where Justin Szaro fell to Cory Cox 4-6, 3-6.

All of Freedom’s doubles teams won their matches against East Stroudsburg South.

Zach Chomitzky and Advay Deshmukh won at two doubles 6-1, 6-2, Max Mehta and Shivam Chand won at three doubles 6-0, 6-0, and Fahim Paiker and Matt Vera won at four doubles 8-1.

In the Patriots’ match against the Panthers, four matches went to three sets but only Fahimm Paiker and Shivam Chand won 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 at four doubles.

In a two-set match, Max Mehta and Zach Chomitzky won at three doubles 6-2, 7-5.

“In the first set, we started off well and kept going from there. Second set, we had more of a rocky beginning and got frustrated,” said Chomitzky. “We like talking during points, letting people know where to move, where the ball needs to hit, stuff like that. They had some nice low shots that you had to get to quick.”

It was Chomitzky and Mehta’s first win of the season.

“Our shots, we weren’t placing correctly [in the second set],” Mehta said. “They were playing really well at the net, and it was kind of hard to place a shot around them.”

In other doubles matches, Advay Deshmukh and TJ Schaeffer lost at two doubles 6-7, 7-5, 6-7, and Justin Szaro and Matt Mullen lost at one doubles 5-7, 3-6.

In singles matches, Szaro lost at number one 6-0, 5-7, 3-6, and Mullen lost at number two 6-4, 6-7, 2-6.

Paras Chand won for the Patriots at three singles 6-0, 6-2.

This Thursday, the Patriots will take on Whitehall at Freedom.
