Adelina Guerra Simões, Sacred Heart Church
Adelina Guerra Simões, 92, of Bethlehem Township, died May 8, 2018. Born in Forninhos, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Abel and Maria (Guerra) Andrade. She was the wife of the late John Simões.
She was a sewing machine operator for 22 years, with Chickadee Manufacturing Company, until she retired in 1977.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miller Heights.
She was a member of the The International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union.
She and her husband sponsored and found employment for several families who immigrated to the United States from Portugal and Brazil.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony M. and his wife Kathryn and George and his wife Deborah; and a sister, Ana Simões, all of Bethlehem Township; five grandchildren, Karen and her husband Timothy Miklus, David and his wife Jessica Simões, Ryan and husband Michael Simões, Kristen and her husband Chad Bruckner and Jennifer Simões; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Sophia, Lucas, Adam, Malia, Anthony and Marcus.
She was predeceased by five sisters, Dorinda, Maria Augusta, Maria Alice, Emilia and Feliciana; and a brother, Jose Augusto.
