UPDATE: Rain continues to alter playoff schedules

Wednesday, May 16, 2018 by Scott Pagel spagel@tnonline.com in Sports

Weather continues to change schedules for league playoff games this week.

Here’s the latest as of Thursday morning:

Track

The District 11 track and field meet is still on for Thursday, May 17, for day two. The event will take place at Whitehall High School.

Inclement weather forced the postponement of the boys and girls Class 3A pole vault Wednesday. Both will now be contested Friday indoors at East Stroudsburg University. There will be an attempt to contest the boys and girls 2A pole vault today at Whitehall, but if they are unable to do so, both will be moved to ESU on Friday with the 3A events.

Thursday will be a busy day for area baseball and softball teams:

EPC Baseball

Games remain on as of now. At 2:30, Stroudsburg will take on Parkland followed by Emmaus and Easton at 5:15 p.m. The championship game will take place at 8 p.m. All games are scheduled for Hackett Park.

Colonial Baseball

Colonial League baseball as again been postponed due to the weather and field condition. Games will now take place Friday, May 18, at Parkland High School.

The schedule for Friday is:

1 p.m. - Northwestern vs. Southern Lehigh will resume their suspended game. (Southern Lehigh up 4-0 after 2 ½ innings)

3 p.m. - Palisades vs. Saucon Valley

6 p.m. - Championship game

Softball

Pates Park will be the site of the area softball playoffs Thursday, but there has been an update to the schedule:

2 p.m. - Colonial League Semifinal game between Salisbury and Bangor.

4 p.m. - EPC Semifinal game between Liberty and Becahi.

6 p.m. - Colonial League Championship game, Northern Lehigh taking on the winner of Salisbury-Bangor.

8 p.m. - EPC Championship game between Parkland and the winner of Liberty-Becahi.

As noted in the release from Parkland's Bob Tice, teams will not have a full infield warmup and this is considered a fluid situation and subject to change.
