Rudolph “Rudy” Marmelo, owned Rudy’s Thriftway

Rudolph “Rudy” Marmelo Sr., 87, of Bethlehem Township, died May 23, 2018. Born in Freixo da Serra, Portugal, he was a son of the late Adirao and Amelia (Esperancu) Marmelo. He was the husband of the late Anne (Melinsky) Marmelo for 63 years.

At age 13, he emigrated to the United States and worked in several service stations, He then opened Rudy’s Thriftway, now Rudy’s Carwash, Easton.

He is survived by a daughter, Charlene and her husband Rich Dean; two sons, Rudy Jr., and Wane and his wife Debbie; six grandchildren: Justin and his wife Ashley, Ryan and his wife Mayra, Mitchel, Caryn, Kenny and Lisa; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Tony and his wife, Joyce Marmelo; and a sister, Salette Marmelo.
