Lynn, Snyder win EPC gold
Liberty’s number two singles player David Lynn and number three singles player Gavin Snyder clinched gold medals in the East Penn Conference tennis tournament last month at Freedom High School.
In finals, Lynn defeated Nazareth’s Nate Tauber, 10-5, and Snyder defeated Parkland’s Sam Zahn, 10-8.
“It was another hot afternoon like district finals and it was another long match. I think the same thing happened again. He got tired and I was able to capitalize on that,” said Snyder. We each had a match on each other so it was really a tiebreaker match for me.”
Snyder last played against Zahn in the District XI team tennis tournament when Snyder’s win broke a 2-2 tie at that point and clinched a district team title for the Hurricanes.
“It was relieving again because knowing I can now consistently beat him,” Snyder said. “The two years before I got bronze medals so I’m thinking I have to get at least a bronze this year, and I got a gold.”
Snyder lost only two matches all season, his first season at singles.
Silver medals were awarded to Liberty’s Jacob Wong and Anthony Ronca at two doubles, and Duke Jin and Marc Burritt at three doubles.
