Fake inspector

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 by The Press in Police Log

Colonial Regional Police report that a man identifying himself as a “water company inspector” knocked on a Hanover Township door July 18, indicating he was there to check for discoloration in the water. He had an ID hanging around his next that identified him as an “Inspector.”

He entered the resident’s home, and the following day the homeowners discovered money missing. Police say ff someone comes to your door and identifies themselves as a utility inspector, ask for a picture ID and dial 911. Most utilities do not send inspectors to residences without notice.

The man was identified as a middle-aged Hispanic, 5’10”, average build, black hair, wearing a baseball hat, shorts, sneakers and a blue and white shirt.

A similar burglary occurred in the city of Bethlehem this week.
