James R. Muschlitz, Schoenersville Inn manager
James R. Muschlitz, 87, of Bethlehem, died Sept. 23, 2018, at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Mary (Rupple) and Clarence Muschlitz. He was the husband of the late Regena “Reggie” Muschlitz for 21 years.
He attended Penn State and Lehigh University and was a 1958 graduate of Kutztown State University. He earned a Master’s Degree from Temple University.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He previously managed the Schoenersville Inn. He was an engineer associate for Western Electric for 14 years. He was a science teacher for four years in the Wilson Borough School District. He was a mechanic with the United Racing Club Sprint Cars and was a tech inspector for Sports Cars Club of America and Indy Car Racing. He was a Marion Campbell cabinet maker for five years.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Northeast Wanderers and an avid gardener.
He is survived by sons, Bruce and his wife Darlene and Frank and his wife Stephanie; a brother, Edward “Harold” and his wife Eileen Muschlitz; and two sisters, Helen “Dolly” and her husband Otto Ersham and Arlene Salokey.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Milton and Clarence Muschlitz; and two sisters, Eva Hines and Marie Ronyack.
