Teague takes second
Liberty jumper Daeshawn Teague measured the second best long jump in the state at the East Stroudsburg Warrior Classic Indoor Track Meet on Jan. 4 at East Stroudsburg University.
Teague jumped a 22-06.50, placing first among the meet’s other opponents.
Teague also placed third in the triple jump with a 39-08.00 and fifth in the high jump with a 5-06.00.
In other boys’ events, Devon West placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.34, Darlyn Fermin was second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.30, Christian Tackett placed fourth in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.14, Sander Sahaydak came in fourth in the triple jump with a 39-07.50, and Alex Roan was fifth in the pole vault with a 11-00.00.
The Hurricanes’ 4x4 relay team of Fermin, West, Casey Frank, and Ryan Wycherley took third place with a time of 3:46.50.
In girls’ events, Essynce Botz placed sixth in the 55 meter dash in 8.14, Gabrielle Phillips was third in the 400 meter dash in 1:04.14, and Greta Stuckey came in sixth in the 800 meter run in 2:33.10.
Hazel Deschamps was sixth in the 55 meter hurdles in 9.94, and Jaida Davis came in fourth in the shot put with a 33-09.50.
Liberty’s 4x4 relay team of Cami Bortz, Rachel Byrne, Stuckey, and Victoria Gilbert came in third with a time of 4:30.20.
Last month, Cole Frank, Tackett, Casey Frank, and Fermin recorded the seventh best time (11:06.76) in the state in the distance medley relay at the Robert J. Burdette Indoor Classic at Lehigh University.
