Patriot girls defeat Liberty
Two times in two days, Freedom’s girls’ basketball team defeated both city rivals, and on Friday night in the first game of a girl-boy doubleheader, the Patriots topped Liberty, 56-26, at Liberty.
“Tonight was another cross town rival and it was good to beat them both in a row,” said the Patriots’ top scorer, Jennifer Kokolus, who had 18 points against the Hurricanes. “I tried to run the floor as hard as I can. My teammates always find me. They’re always selfless.”
The Patriots led 28-12 at halftime, but the disparity did not cause Freedom to back down.
“We needed to come out and rebound because their guards started crashing the boards, so we tried to adjust that. I think we did that well in the second half. Rebounding was our big focus,” Kokolus said. “We have to come out and play our game every single time.”
Erin Eisenhart was the top scorer for Liberty with 11 points followed by Bridget MacDonald who had 10 points.
Also last Friday night, Bethlehem Catholic defeated Easton, 42-29, at Easton.
Abby Brown was the Hawks’ top scorer with 11 points against the Red Rovers.
This week, Becahi will travel to Allen, Freedom will host Easton, and Liberty will host Dieruff, all on Wednesday.
