Close to 300 women from across the Lehigh Valley gathered at the Musikfest Café at ArtsQuest in Bethlehem May 10 to raise awareness and funds in support of women’s heart health at the 2019 Lehigh Valley Go Red for Women luncheon. The event raised more than $100,000 for the American Heart Association.

The event celebrated the 15th anniversary of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement by encouraging women to become advocates for their heart health. Christine Campbell from The Morning Call presented the annual Woman of Heart Award to local heart attack survivor and women’s heart health advocate Jill Kelly McComsey.

Guests heard the story of Keyna Lundy, a local heart attack survivor, whose fast treatment saved her life.

Author Nika Maples provided the keynote address, sharing her experience surviving a stroke and the appreciation she gained for living in the moment.

The event was hosted by Eve Russo of WFMZ-TV and included a silent auction, health expo and heart-healthy lunch.

Go Red for Women is sponsored nationally by CVS Health and locally by Air Products, Lehigh Valley Health Network, PSECU, Computer Aid Inc., Capital BlueCross, Highmark, Valley National Financial Advisors and First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.
