Area players part of Big 33 victory
It was one final chance for some members of Bethlehem Catholic’s football team to relive their time as Golden Hawks during the recent 62nd annual Big 33 game.
Pennsylvania knocked off Maryland 21-0 in the contest, as four Bethlehem players and Becahi head coach Joe Henrich took part in the festivities.
Freedom linebacker Tristan Wheeler was also part of a PA effort that limited Maryland to six first downs in the contest, while the PA offensive line was anchored by two of Becahi’s biggest boys up front last season, as Elias Marte and Dalton Daddona worked the trenches.
Golden Hawk kicker Anthony DaSilva was also part of the PA roster.
For Henrich, coaching in the Big 33 game was an opportunity to be around great coaches and players, but also being around his guys one last time.
“Coaching the Big 33 Game was an absolute honor,” Henrich said. “Having the opportunity to work with the best players in the state, meet other coaches and partake in all of the activities was a blast and something I am truly thankful for. I am also thankful for having to coach a few guys from Becahi for one last time.”
Henrich worked with the offensive line as part of PA’s staff and relished the opportunity to coach two of his players up front, as well as be around DaSilva for another round of action.
“I got to work directly with Elias and Dalton,” said Henrich. “They did an awesome job and are two of the best at their position to ever come out of Becahi. While I did not coach Anthony specifically in the game, it was awesome to see him competing with the best. I am truly humbled, honored and thankful to have been a part of this historic game and the icing on the cake was a big 21-0 win over Maryland.”
