Northwest Little League’s 8-10-year-old all-star team concluded its season as state runner-up on July 24 in Wellsboro, Pa.

After winning the District 20 championship and the Section 6 championship, Northwest began its run in the Pennsylvania State Tournament with a 4-2 victory over North Pocono on July 18, followed by a 2-0 victory over Mifflinburg on July 19, and a 5-4 victory over Delaware Valley on July 21.

One more victory would have clinched a state championship for Northwest, but they lost to St. Mary’s on July 23, 7-2.

Northwest would face St. Mary’s one more time, on July 24, but lost 11-1.

Players for Northwest are Peyton Besecker, Natalie Lily, Addy Smith, Adriana O’Neill, Leah Onia, Ella Quayle, Ava Tomac, Ellie Rumbalski, Riley Palank, Grace Lancaster, Rachael Fisher, Alexis Richie, Shea Miller, and Mia Watson.

Chris Tomac is the team’s manager, and coaches are Grant Lily, Jim Koehler, and Anna O’Neill.
