LHS gearing up for playoffs

With the field hockey season winding down, Liberty is heading down the stretch hot.

The Hurricanes (11-3) are winners of five straight as they head into this week’s contests with Stroudsburg (8-5) and Emmaus (14-0). It’ll be a challenging week for Liberty, as they continue to jockey for position in the EPC playoff race, where they currently sit a game behind Easton (10-3) for fourth place.

With a District 11 3A berth already well in hand, the ‘Canes are playing to keep momentum and improve their positioning heading into the postseason.

In 1A, Bethlehem Catholic (7-7) is sitting behind top-seeded Moravian Academy (11-1) in the district power rankings.

The Hawks are more than likely to be the second or third seed for the district tournament and have an outside chance of qualifying for the EPC tournament.

Becahi has matches with Dieruff (0-15), Northampton (10-3) and Whitehall (7-6) this week before closing out the season next week with a nonconference tilt against Muhlenberg.

Freedom (4-10) has lost seven of their last eight games during a tough stretch for the Patriots, including a 1-0 defeat to Becahi last week.

The Pates will look to snap their struggles this week with Whitehall, Nazareth (8-6) and Allen (2-12) on the schedule.
