Fermin named Rookie of the Year

Liberty graduate and Moravian College freshman Darlyn Fermin was named the Landmark Conference’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year on Nov. 2.

Fermin had the top finish by a first-year collegiate runner at the Landmark Championships after placing seventh in the 8,000 meter race with a time of 26:56.33 at Catholic University of America, also on Nov. 2.

Fermin also received All-Conference First Team honors after the meet in which the Greyhounds men’s team placed second out of six teams.

On Nov. 16, the Greyhound men placed ninth out of 51 teams at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals held at Lehigh University.

Fermin came in 60th out of 360 runners with a time of 26:17.7.
