William Hugh Deegan, BASD bus driver
William Hugh Deegan, 85, of Bethlehem, died November 21, 2019. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Francis and Lucy Deegan. He was the husband of Rhoda (Bender) Deegan for 67 years.
He was in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 39 years. He then was a Bethlehem Area School District bus driver for ten years before he retired.
He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy R. C. Church.
He was a member of the Hellertown Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Jefferson Club and the Northend Wanderers’.
He was a runner and raced in the Boston, New York and Washington marathons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Joseph Deegan (Maryann); Kathleen Tsihlis; Lucy Kocher (Richard); Cynthia Castro (Jose); Ruth Gold (Terry); and William H. Deegan Jr. (Michelle); four sisters, Maryann Ruggeri; Catherine Nunzio; Margie Wilbur and Dorthea Seawald; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
