Freedom senior basketball player Jennifer Kokolus signed a letter of intent last month to continue her academic and athletic career at Holy Family University in Philadelphia.

“I just love the culture of it. It’s a family feel and that’s what I was looking for,” said Kokolus. “The coach’s energy is great, and when I went to visit, it felt like home. I could see myself there for four years.”

Bernadette Laukaitis is Holy Family’s women’s head basketball coach.

“She’s so easy to talk to. The first phone call we had, we talked for 30 minutes about everything,” Kokolus said. “I could see her being a really good person in my life for the next four years.”

Kokolus attended a summer basketball camp at Holy Family which piqued her interest in Holy Family and their interest in her.

“From there, we started talking,” she said. “It was a lot of fun. The teammates were really nice and like I said, the coach’s energy was awesome, and it all came together.”

Kokolus plans to major in nursing.
