The Junior League of the Lehigh Valley (JLLV) hosted the American Girl Fashion Show recently at Lehigh University's Iacocca Hall. This fashion show demonstrates historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. Proceeds from the event benefit the JLLV's children's programs including Kids in the Kitchen, aimed at providing education and tools encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Twenty-one enthusiastic kids arrived for a Lego building workshop at the Bethlehem Area Public Library recently for youngsters in grades three and up. The free program was sponsored by Bricks4Kidz® and the class for the day was building a motorized snowplow.

Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative, the bicycling education hub of CAR-FREE CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transport held a bike education day at Calypso Elementary School on May 25. I received notice for jury duty recently. I've never had the privilege of going through the juror selection process yet alone serve as a juror.
But I met up with Kathleen Thierer, a juror who participated in the George Hitcho Jr. trial, the man found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Freemansburg officer Robert A. Lasso, and I got a better appreciation of serving on a jury.

Women of Excellence Bethlehem in partnership with Broughal Community MS hosted the fifth annual Children's Christmas Party Dec. 8 at the school.
Families from Broughal, Donegan ES and Fountain Hill ES were invited for a free holiday meal and gifts for the children.

Under cool breezes, low humidity and sunny skies, the Robert A. Lasso 5K Memorial Run was held Aug. 12 in Freemansburg. The run was held one day after the first anniversary of Robert Lasso's death. It began at the intersection of Cambria and Kossuth streets and ended at the Robert A. Lasso Police Center on Monroe Street.
