Hurricanes advance

Thursday, May 16, 2019 by STEVE ANDRES AND SCOTT PAGEL in Sports

A great catch by Whitehall’s Ben Hudak in the third inning would have been a perfect way for the eighth-seeded Zephs to talk about an upset victory in the EPC playoffs over top-seed Liberty on Saturday.

When first baseman Hudak drifted into foul ground to go after a pop up, the bases were loaded in the bottom of the third of a scoreless game. Hudak kept tracking the ball as it started to reach the fence where spectators had gathered to watch the game. Hudak stuck his glove over the fence, and then toppled over it, the ball secure in his mitt.
