Fountain Hill--Nine volunteers join fire department

Council approved an ordinance at a recent meeting to remove three handicapped parking spaces from Senecca St., Bishothorpe St. and Senca St. Council President Larry Rapp reported that the acquisition of the new building for the firehouse is moving along. Council Vice President Normam Blatt said the tax collection committee is thinking of renewing services with Keystone Collections for local taxes. They will review it with the committee.

Borough council sets year’s pool fees

Fountain Hill Borough board members had tabled the discussion regarding new pool rates for 2017 at their December meeting, but have since decided admission fees are going up $5 for season membership and $1 for individual fees.

Board member Philip Trable proposed raising the cost for individual admission $2 from last year instead of the proposed $1. Trable said expenses keep going up. They gave the lifeguards a raise last year, the cost of supplies increases and there are repairs that will need to be made soon.

Solicitor to retire after 44 years

Council began its Dec. 5 meeting with the announcement that attorney Don Lipson was attending his last council meeting and will retire after 44 years as borough solicitor.

Council President Larry Rapp thanked Lipson for all his years of loyal service to Fountain Hill. Lipson related, “It all started in 1973 when I was asked to come to the Fountain Hill council and never left.” Lipson said he appreciated the way he was treated all these years by all the council members. He plans to cut back his work so he can spend more time with family.

Fountain Hill--Taxes remain unchanged for 2017

Fountain Hill Council met Nov. 23, and missing were Mayor Jose Rosado and solicitor Peter Lehr.

The first reading of Ordinance 830 took place. It established the real estate and other taxation for borough purposes for the fiscal year 2017. The taxes will remain the same as last year. The motion was made and secondedand passed unanimously. A copy of Ordinance 830 can be seen at the Fountain Hill Borough office.

Fountain Hill - Officer welcomed; plants rejected

Fountain Hill Council has hired another part-time police officer. Richmon Penn was sworn in Sept. 6. The council has created a Safety Committee to meet once a month to discuss proper safety procedures for employees. They will meet the last Monday of each month. The members of this committee are Edward Bachert, David Wood, Dave Boeher, Thomas Hart, Jason Quarry, Brian Morea, Anthony Branco. This will give the borough employees a 5 percent reduction in insurance.
