Freemansburg police responded to an alleged home invasion in the 100 block of Walnut Street around 5:30 a.m. Aug. 16.

According to police, the victims, a married couple with two children, were forcibly detained by three men who ransacked their home.

Northampton County is famous for its cacophony and dissonance, but Aug. 22 was an unusually harmonious day. It occurred, strangely enough, during the dedication of a new, 100-bed treatment center for drunk drivers and domestic relations offenders in tiny West Easton Borough. The Civil War Roadshow will be in Bethlehem from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 9. The event will take place at the Fowler Center, 511 E. Third St.

Bethany United Church of Christ held its vacation Bible school July 23 to 27. The theme for the week was "Babylon - Daniel's Courage in Captivity." Participants chose from a selection of costumes that they could mix and match each evening.
