Marion E. Gray, stamp, coin shop manager

Marion E. Gray, 90, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 23, 2012, at Valley Manor Nursing Home, Coopersburg. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Gray.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Raymond E. Frederick and Lillian M. (Weaver) Frederick Border, and the stepdaughter of the late Francis Border.

She worked in a local silk mill. She worked with her husband at Bob's Photo Shop and Bethlehem Stamp and Coin as a manager and bookkeeper until retiring in 1994.

Mary L. Gahagan, public accountant

Mary L. Gahagan , 84, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 3, 2013, in her home. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Grant J. and Mary (Kuronya) Wert Sr. She was the wife of the late James P. Gahagan Jr.

She was a licensed public accountant and worked with her husband in private practice from 1976 until she retired in 1981. She was previously a front end manager at the former Food Fair.

She was a member of St. Ursula's R.C. Church, Fountain Hill.

Wilbur C. Haas, cold saw operator

Wilbur C. Haas, 89, of Bethlehem, died Dec.18, 2012, in his home. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George M. and Olive (Good) Haas. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Mumma) Haas.

He was a cold saw operator at the beam yard of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, from which he retired after 44 years.

He volunteered at the Burnside Plantation.

He is survived by a sister, Eloise Kovalovsky of Bethlehem Township; and a brother George R. Haas of Saylorsburg.

He was predeceased by a son, Dale C. Haas; and a sister, Geraldine V. Thomas.

Edward J. McKeever, plant security department

Edward J. McKeever, 89, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 23, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Oliver and Martha (Gersbach) McKeever. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Grube) McKeever for 67 years.

He was a U.S. Navy and World War II veteran.

He was employed in the plant security department, Bethlehem Steel Company, for 33 years and retired in 1983.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Catasauqua.

Richard D. Frey Jr., baseball umpire

Richard D. Frey Jr., 62, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 30, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Richard and Delphine (Hagerty) Frey. He was the husband of Jean (Brunovsky) Frey.

He was a 1969 Liberty HS graduate and attended Kutztown University.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps as a sergeant and was a Vietnam War veteran.

He was employed at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He was the manager warehouse for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

Leroy L. Smith, earned five Bronze Stars

Leroy L. Smith, 91, of Bethlehem, died Dec.16, 2012. He was a son of the late James and Edna Smith. He was the husband of the late Marie Smith.

He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received five Bronze Stars.

He worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation.

He is survived by three sons, Leroy Jr., Harold P. and Ronald and his wife Joann Smith; two daughters, Gail and her husband James Cole and Carolyn Sanderson; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Connell Funeral Home Inc., Bethlehem.

Sherwood "Sam" C. Rash, Western Electric supervisor

Sherwood "Sam" C. Rash, 97, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 25, 2012, at Moravian Village, Bethlehem. Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Victor S. and Mary I. (Clauss) Rash. He was the husband of the late Joyce S. Rash for 67 years.

He was in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired as a production control supervisor in 1979 after 33 years at Western Electric.

He was a member of Christ Church U.C.C., Bethlehem.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda and her husband James Biesecker of Bethlehem; and a sister, Mary Ellen Becker of Nazareth.
