Wilbur C. Haas, cold saw operator

Wilbur C. Haas, 89, of Bethlehem, died Dec.18, 2012, in his home. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George M. and Olive (Good) Haas. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Mumma) Haas.

He was a cold saw operator at the beam yard of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, from which he retired after 44 years.

He volunteered at the Burnside Plantation.

He is survived by a sister, Eloise Kovalovsky of Bethlehem Township; and a brother George R. Haas of Saylorsburg.

He was predeceased by a son, Dale C. Haas; and a sister, Geraldine V. Thomas.

Irene (Huyter) Lippert, cafeteria supervisor

Irene (Huyter) Lippert, 97, of Bethlehem, died Nov. 10, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services I, Bethlehem. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Horvath) Huyter. She was the wife of the late Joseph G. Lippert.

She was a cafeteria supervisor at Moravian College for 20 years.

She was a member of the former St. John Capistrano Church and of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

She helped with the Hungarian Club, Bethlehem.

Violet M. (Lynn) Janzso, 88, of Bethlehem, died Nov. 14, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, Bethlehem. Born in Freemansburg, she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Clara (Wheeler) Lynn. She was the wife of the late Geza J. Janzso.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by three daughters, Clara and her husband Ronald Hodgkins of Bethlehem Township, Nancy Cope of Bethlehem and Violet Reccek of Bethlehem; a son, Geza and his wife Diane of Bethlehem; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Rosemary E. Devers, 90, of Bethlehem, died Nov.11, 2012. Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Hugh J. and Edith M. (Mulhearn) Devers.

She retired from Bell of Pennsylvania, where she worked as an operator for 40 years, in 1982.

She was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and was a member of the church's Sodality.

She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by a niece, Elizabeth Devers of Bethlehem; and two nephews, Jay York of Wilkes-Barre and Chad York of Bethlehem.

She was predeceased by three brothers.

Mary M. Marshall, 92, of Bethlehem, died Nov.13, 2012, in Country Meadows. Born in McAdoo, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Sockocy) Mayshock. She was the wife of the late David G. Marshall for 47 years.

She is survived by two sons, David G. Jr. and his wife Hue of Bethlehem and William J. and his wife Lori of Riegelsville; a daughter-in-law, Joan Marshall of Bethlehem; a sister, Julia Bozer of McAdoo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, John.

Cecelia L. McGavin, 89, of Bethlehem, died Nov. 11, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Pinckneyville, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Magdalen (Ruppert) Mann. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. McGavin Jr.

She was a retired accounts receivable manager.

She was a member of Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

She is survived by a son, Joe McGavin; two daughters, Marie Thaler and Mary Behun; two sisters, Dr. Jacinta Mann and Julia Ann DeYoung; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
