Andres Alberto Valencia, 38, of Macungie,was taken into custody for simple assault after a verbal altercation allegedly escalated in the 3700 block of Knight Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 12:28 p.m. March 21. According to police, Valencia allegedly placed his hands around the neck of a person and applied pressure for a period of ten seconds and then pushed the person into a wall. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Corrine Nancy Sergent, 31, of Bethlehem, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after a traffic stop along Fairway Lane at South Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:16 a.m. Feb. 2. Sergent was later released, according to police. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
There will be a free Pennsylvania State Police six-week citizen’s police academy on Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m. April 17, 24, 16 and May 1, 8, 15 and 22 at the 2930 Airport Road location.
The program will offer attendees an opportunity to see first hand what the PSP is about and what is done on a daily basis. Classes will include roles and duties of the trooper, criminal and patrol investigations, forensic duties, use of force protocol, computer crime unit, K-9 and aviation unit.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at Fiot and Sioux streets around 1:45 a.m. Feb. 8.
About two blocks from the scene they found an unresponsive woman who was pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds by Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek.
Lysek confirmed the 19-year-old woman’s name was Teayahe Glover, but additional information is unavailable as the investigation continues.
Lower Saucon Township police arrested 44-year-old Tarek Elzeneiny of Creek View Road following an allegedly alcohol-induced traffic accident around 2:25 a.m. Feb. 5.
Officers responded to a reported accident on Bingen Road and found Elzeneiny “manifestly under the influence of alcohol,” police said, when he struck a boulder and tree.
Elzeneiny is charged with speeding and DUI.
Colonial Regional Police arrested a 35-year-old man for possession of drugs around 7 p.m. Jan. 24.
Police said members of the Northampton County Drug Task Force working undercover purchased one-quarter ounce of methamphetamine for $550 from Joshua Louis Rivera in a parking lot on Gateway Drive.
Rivera, of Wood Street in Bethlehem, is charged with possession, possession with intent to deliver, and delivery of a controlled substance. He was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
David James Santmyer Jr., 47, of Wescosville, was taken into custody and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence and alleged simple assault after an argument escalated in the 900 block of South Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Road, 11:30 p.m. Feb. 10. According to police, Santmyer struck another person with a baking sheet pan and a stove top grate during an argument at a residence in the 900 block of South Krocks Road.
Kerry Freedman, 41, of Coaldale, was charged with retail theft 3:52 p.m. Feb. 4, following an incident at Bon-Ton, 3300 Lehigh St. Police found Freedman running on the street followed by loss prevention personnel after Freedman allegedly removed eight ties valued at $474.50. He was apprehended and taken to Central Booking for processing.
Rolland Michael Houle, 37, of Allentown, was arrested for alleged simple assault after an argument escalated in a hotel room at the Wingate Hotel, 4325 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, 9:55 p.m. Jan. 22. According to police, Houle grabbed, slapped and pinned a person down. Charges were filed, according to court records..
