Fatal crash

State Police Fogelsville are seeking help from the public in a hit and run accident in which a Bethlehem man was fatally injured in 2013. According to police, Michael J. Mason, 36, was walking southbound on the west berm of State Route 222 just north of Kressler Road, Lower Macungie Township, 7:50 p.m. Nov. 29 when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. Mason was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information regarding this incident may contact Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville at 610-395-1438.

Priscilla Ramirez, 27, of Emmaus, was taken into custody for allegedly driving under the influence and other charges after a traffic stop on Lower Macungie Road at South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Lower Macungie Township, 11:56 p.m. Dec. 18, 2016. According to police, Ramirez showed signs of alcohol impairment during field sobriety tests. Charges were filed, according to court records.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced Jan. 11 than a Bethlehem man and St. Luke’s University Hospital nurse is charged following an incident involving a patient.

According to Martin, John Spanogle, 30, of North New Street, made comments of a sexual nature to a female patient while transporting her from radiology to her room, and then while there groped her and exposed himself.

Hospital administration and security cooperated in an ensuing investigation, and Spanogle is charged with misdemeanor indecent assault.

Drug overdose

Colonial Regional Police arrived at the Nazareth Pike Top Star around 11:40 p.m. Dec. 6 following a report of a man asleep in his vehicle.

Police said Edgardo Donilla, 21, of East Boulevard in Bethlehem, was slumped in his seat with a cigar and package of incense. Testing concluded both contained an illegal spice chemical.

Donilla is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Phone scam

A Hellertown resident reported a Dec. 12 and a Lower Saucon Township police investigation revealed he lost about a thousand dollars in a scam.

Police say the victim received a call from someone claiming to be from a bank looking to help him settle an Northampton County debt out of court.

Following negotiations, the victim was convinced he could settle his $8,000 debt with a single $1,000.99 payment. He then gave his bank card information and the money was withdrawn shortly thereafter.

Drug overdose

Colonial Regional Police responded to a reported drug overdose at the Schoenersville Road Extended Stay around 4:30 a.m. Nov. 29.

Kristin Nicole Davis, 24, of Breiningsville, had allegedly overdosed and officers revived her with Narcan. Four of six small packets found in her purse were found to contain heroin.

Davis is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

An East Raders Lane resident reported a theft from her home around 11 p.m. Oct. 7.

Lower Saucon Township police said the victim had permitted a contractor at her home to work when she went out for the evening. Once home she discovered her jewelry was gone.

Officers learned William Hill, 59, of Easton, took the items and sold them at a local gold exchange.

Hill is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

A Lower Saucon Township police officer observed an alcohol-related traffic accident on Route 378 around 6 p.m. Nov. 18.

Police said Frank John Danyi III, 28, of Bethlehem, rear-ended another vehicle in his Mercedes. The officer was standing about 50 feet away on another traffic stop.

Danyi allegedly staggered out of his vehicle and failed field sobriety tests, and a tube with white residue, later found to be cocaine, was in his pocket.

Danyi is charged with following too closely, DUI, and possession of paraphernalia, and was remanded to Northampton County Prison.
